From the dealer to system supplier
SAUER BIBUS develops complete hydraulic systems
SAUER BIBUS has continually developed itself from the original retail company into a powerful supplier of complete system solutions. 75 highly specialised employees are now employed at the Bavarian site in Neu-Ulm. The company is a development partner and system supplier for well-known manufacturers of construction, forestry and agricultural machinery. SAUER BIBUS has also become an in-demand manufacturer of drive and control units in the static machinery sector.
The company was founded in 1984 as a sales and service point for industrial hydraulic products. Hydraulic components from manufacturers like DAIKIN, SAUER DANFOSS, HYDRO-GEAR, SUMITOMO and Kawasaki were sold by the retail company. The development of in-house systems and production of complete plants in customer-specific designs was intensified following the move to the current location in Neu-Ulm.
Today, 27 years later, the company has transformed itself into a powerful system supplier for manufacturers of machinery and special vehicles. Whether for use in the mobile or industrial sector, SAUER BIBUS offers tailor-made solutions, which correspond to the special requirements of the applicable fields.
The innovative strength of the highly specialised company has made SAUER BIBUS a competent development partner for industry. Developing, testing and bringing new technologies to series-production readiness are all part of everyday work now for the hydraulic specialists. The latest development is hybrid hydraulic gearbox with wide angle technology. A specially developed electric motor supports the hydrostatic drive to cover power peaks. This means that the combustion engine required by the drive can be produced in a smaller and more economical design.
The company's site is not only home to development and production, but also houses a capable aftersales department, which supplies customers with spare parts and services.
A modern workshop performs repairs on complete vehicles. The department also assists customers who seek help from the Neu-Ulm hydraulic specialists with machinery from other manufacturers. SAUER BIBUS offers a mobile service to support customers locally. Well-equipped mobile workshops with "first aid" on board ensure that extended and expensive downtimes for machinery and vehicles are avoided wherever possible.
"we boost hydraulics"
More performance thanks to innovative solutions for drive concepts
Greater profitability through more performance is the philosophy of the hydraulic specialist SAUER BIBUS located in Bavarian Neu-Ulm. "Our goal is to give our customers a competitive advantage by increasing the performance of their products", says Managing Director Ralf Schrempp of the company's philosophy.
This is why "we boost hydraulics" is the motto of this year's "agritechnica" trade fair in Hanover. In addition to standard products, SAUER BIBUS is also showcasing innovative and powerful environmentally-friendly drive systems:
"Module Drive" – the compact power unit for special machines
Large angle technology, packaged in a compact and robust construction form, which is the new "Module Drive" from SAUER BIBUS. At the heart of the drive is the famous high-performance rotation group from the ICVD - product group. The modular hydraulic motor can also be equipped with ISO and DIN flange if desired. An array of fixing points makes installation easy. SAUER BIBUS also offers the Module Drive with sensors to control swivelling angle and revolution speed incl. a CAN-Bus communication. The drive stands out due to a high degree of effectiveness, which provides a performance boost particularly in special machinery, which is used in agricultural or forestry management or in the construction industry.
HYDRO-GEAR – maintenance-free, electrical drive system
The electrical "Smartec" drive unit from HYDRO-GEAR is designed for small vehicles, such as sit-on lawnmowers and small tractors. SAUER BIBUS configures the standard components on the basis of a complete and customer-specific drive system, which stands out especially due to its high efficiency. The basis of the drive system is a brushless electrical motor, which is designed for a long service life. The environmentally-friendly drive is computer-monitored and is equipped with an integrated diagnosis system. Operation is also made easier with cruise control. Torque limitation is activated automatically to protect the system under corresponding load. Because the drive comes without belt or driving rods, no maintenance is required either, which also increases the efficiency of the vehicle.
"e"-boost for hydraulic gearbox
SAUER BIBUS creates hybrid of large angle technology
SAUER BIBUS is breaking new ground for hydraulic drives with its hybrid version of large angle technology. Together with the electric motor specialist, Heinzmann, the combination was configured from a hydrostatic and electric drive. An integrated electric drive is used as an "e"-booster to support the SAUER BIBUS ICVD gear. The advantage: downsizing of the combustion engine is possible, consumption and exhaust emissions are, thus, reduced and cost-effectiveness is increased.
The ICVD gear equipped with the so-called large angle technology is predominantly used in work machines like telehandlers or wheel loaders. The gearbox, which was developed in cooperation with the globally active technology group GKN Walterscheid, facilitates continuous drive speeds up to 40 km/h thanks to the 45-degree large angular adjustment. An additional integrated electric motor, which was developed by motor specialist Heinzmann, supports the hydraulic gearbox as a booster on the drive side in the hybrid version. The unit can be integrated in the communication field of the CanBus control so that the drive can be activated as needed.
This highly dynamic drive concept not only supports performance peaks, but also returns energy at the same time to the so-called recuperation mode on downhill drives. This means that less overall performance is required of the combustion engine. This facilitates the "downsizing" of engine performance, because operation is permanently in the optimum consumption window. The result of the new technology is less consumption and less exhaust fumes. Additional cost savings can be achieved with regard to the necessary exhaust aftertreatment.
The drive comfort of conventional systems is achieved through a corresponding power split between hydrostatic and electric drive energy. Simulations of the two traction drive concepts show that the advantages of a mild hybrid for wheel loaders and telescopic loaders with a high charge rate are particularly significant. Ralf Schrempp, Managing Director of SAUER BIBUS GmbH believes a milestone has been achieved with the redevelopment of the ICVD drive: "In modern traction drives in construction and agricultural machinery the cost-effectiveness of these drive concepts will be the basis of future-oriented drive technology because of the improved environmental sustainability."
